Companions in Living & Learning was founded by LoLita Pfeiffer in 2009. LoLita grew up in Colorado and then established deep roots in the Great Lakes Bay region when she moved to Midland 41 years ago.

LoLita’s volunteer service to the Midland community includes 14 years on the Midland Public Schools Board of Education, 8 years on the Board of Midland Family & Children’s Service and 41 years of active membership in the United Church of Christ.

Prior to retirement in 2009 LoLita was a high school Cultural Studies, Civics and History teacher. In addition, she served as the Director of Development and Grants for the Saginaw Bay Education Consortium and was at one time Director of Youth Ministry at the United Church of Christ in Midland, MI. During her tenure as a high school teacher she received Teacher of the Year Award from the Midland County Bar Association and and was named Teacher of the Year from Junior Achievement of Mid-Michigan.

LoLita is a travel enthusiast and has lived for extended periods of time in the United Kingdom. Other personal interests include reading, world affairs, antique boats, kayaking, backpacking and fly fishing.

Having a mother and three adult children in Colorado, New York, Minnesota and Alaska, LoLita understands the challenges of families separated by distance. Her family models the belief that we must have fresh responses to each season of our lives. It is this core belief that led LoLita to create the concept and establish CL&L with the purpose of serving Seniors and assisting them in living independent, enriched and relevant lives.
